In 1995 Leirvik AS fabricated, transported and installed Forsmo bridge in Nordland county, Norway. This 2-span bridge is 39m long with all structural elements, included the railing, and is built from sea-water resistant aluminium. No surface protection is added to the aluminium, except for the required asphalt layer in the traffic lanes.

During its operational life, all inspections so far has shown superb resistance to corrosion and proves aluminium as a maintenance free material for bridge constructions.
