In the spring of 2023, Leirvik AS signed a contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) for the delivery of a 55 m × 9 m pedestrian and cycle bridge to Trondheim, named Hangarbrua (Hangar Bridge). The bridge spans the railway lines at Leangen Station and forms part of the main pedestrian and cycling route towards Trondheim city centre.
Hangarbrua is the world’s first network arch bridge constructed entirely from aluminium; only the tension rods are made of stainless steel. This lightweight structure, weighing just 60 tonnes, was installed in June 2025, and the bridge opened to the public in September the same year.
Our solutions combine competitiveness, sustainability, and cost efficiency, representing the forefront of aluminium bridge design and production.
